Ségou at the shore of Niger river

Most visitors do not stop at Ségou on their transfer from Bamako to Mopti or eastern Mali. If you have some time it is absolutely worth it to spend an night or two in this little city. The ambiance can be compared with the one at Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. The old colonial buildings let you feel a little bit Ségou's history. Don't miss sunset at the Niger river... just walk along the river shore following the shady tree alley. Monday is market day.

* Festival: Quite well known today is the professionally organized Ségou Festival.

* Hotels: Hotel Djoliba is probably the best one in the center of town. It is quite small, though. "Auberge" is perfect as well; and Hotel Esplanade shall be refurbished in the near future... (the entrance is allready new!).
